NYCFreeGuide.com is a free guide with no user accounts. This page explains the small amount of data involved in using it.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal information that identifies you. Data is aggregated and used only to improve the site.

If you subscribe to our weekly email, your email address is stored by our newsletter provider, Beehiiv, and used only to send you the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We don't sell or share your address. See Beehiiv's privacy policy for how they handle data.

Saved museums and location

Museums you save with the heart are stored in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us. If you choose "Nearest to me", your browser asks for your location; it's used on your device to sort the list and is not sent to or stored by us.

Maps and links

Map tiles load from OpenStreetMap servers and photos from Wikimedia, which receive standard web request data (like your IP address) when your browser loads them. Links to museum websites and Google Maps directions take you to sites with their own privacy policies.

Error reports

Error reports open your email app with a pre-filled message. We use what you send only to fix the listing and reply to you.
